Includes those that died at the site of the accident and those that died after the accident. Road: The total refers to deaths in federal areas, urban and suburban. Including 5 224, 5 148, 4 864, 4 650, 4 603, 4 710, 4 908, 5 398, 5 379, 4 870, 3 688, 3 784 and 3 547 deaths in road accidents federal network in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2015. These data were not available according to the categories listed, but are included in the total of this mode of transport. Subsequent to 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, the number of deaths by road accidents are included according to the concepts detailed for such deaths. Data for 1997 are not available, under which the characteristics of the information captured impede the generation of statistics (see section Technical Documentation). Rail: Total refers to fatalities in federal, urban and interurban zones. The accidents in grade crossing are those that occur in the crossing among a railroad and another type of road. Data for fatalities refers to the number of persons that died in the event as a consequence of the accident. Up to 1996, data are provided from INEGI; since 1997 data come from SCT. Water transport: The record of fatalities reflects events which occurred in the Mexican territory to national and foreign ships, independently of the type of service of the ships (passengers, freight or both).
